More info

Fine 12000 grade abrasive cloth for smoothing (polishing) nibs. Useful for reducing "feedback" or "tooth" from a nib point and for general final smoothing and polishing. Long lasting and can be rinsed with water to clean.

WARNING:
You can ruin a nib with the incorrect use of any type of abrasive material. Do not use unless you are experienced. To gain experience, practice on inexpensive pens first (pens that you wouldn't be upset if you ruined). Also, take note of the following advice:

  • Check nib alignment first with a good magnifier (10x or 15x is recommended). A scratchy nib can usually be fixed by correcting alignment. Do not attempt to use any abrasive material on a nib until alignment has been checked.
  • For best results, use wet (eg with ink in the pen) to provide lubrication.
  • Avoid pressure. Use gentle circular or straight line motion, making sure you keep moving the pen/nib to avoid too much abrasion in one point.
  • Have a notebook with you on the bench. Make a few movements on the sheet and keep testing as you go.
  • Remember, once tipping material is removed, it cannot be put back!
  • If in doubt, send your pen to an experienced pen repairer.

Note that using Micro Mesh or similar abrasives on a brand new pen is likely to void your warranty.

Sold in single sheets.

Absolutely a must have!

Made my cheap preppy (0.3) go from feedbacky and annoying to a dream to write with!. i also recommend the 8000 not only to begn wtih, but to do a single figure 8 on if you prefer less "mushy" or less slippery nibs! not all nibs get this effect from specially 12000, or even mylar, but some materials for some reason do that, and it's good to do a single figure 8 to get rid of that feeling on 8000, i also have used 5000 regular sandpaper to add feedback on a single pen once. so i recommend the whole set. u

But warning, these are light but can absolutely ruin a pen and specially add a baby's bottom if not used properly. look up tutorials first and use on a cheap preppy at first!
