Ink Review - Diamine Cherry Sunburst Ink

Hello, I’m Chrissy and today, for The Writing Desk, I’m reviewing Diamine Cherry Sunburst ink. This ink is one of the Diamine Guitar range of inks and the ink colours were designed to represent Gibson colours for their Les Paul guitars.

There are five inks in the series, and they were all exclusive to Germany until January 2019. Now they are in the Diamine standard series of inks available from Diamine and many other retailers.

Diamine Cherry Sunburst is a lovely reddish copper shade. It’s not particularly saturated and exhibits some very attractive shading. It’s my favourite ink from this range.

I found the flow very good, fairly wet, but not too wet. It flowed smoothly across the paper and lubricated the nib tip very well. It felt less dry than several other inks that I have used in this colour range.

It flowed much wetter, and looked darker in the Lamy Safari pen with B nib that I used.

While I was writing with the Parker Ellipse with M nib it dried within 12-16 seconds on Clairefontaine Triomphe paper and once dry it didn’t smudge or smear.

It didn’t suffer from any hard starts or non-starts when I put the uncapped pen down to do swab tests, dry times and water resistance.

It easily washes off of my hands with soap and water and it easily flushes out of my converters and pens just using water.

It’s not a waterproof ink, but exhibits some water resistance.

Available in 80ml glass bottles or 30ml plastic bottles.
