More info

This exceptional Bumblebee Limited Edition is inspired by the symbiosis of life on Earth.

Found globally, the Bumblebee has become a key pollinator for plants, trees and flowers, including many crops upon which we reply.  Their diligent foraging is often celebrated as an emblem of intelligence and independence.  Also depicted in the decoration is the Blue Salvia - native to North America, celebrated for its vibrant purple-blue blossoms and symbolism of respect, wisdom, and familial love. Together we are shown that living together with respect and mutual assistance is so important to the well-being of humanity.

The pen is exquisitely decorated showing bumblebees collecting nectar.  The technique of Hira Maki-e (Flat Maki-e) is used to capture pollen adorning their wings and body. The imagery of bumblebees fluttering around Blue Salvias uses a combination of Togidashi Maki-e (Burnished Maki-e), Raden (Mother-of-Pearl), and gold powder to convey movement and light.

The pen body is classic cigar-shaped and has a number 10 18-karat gold nib, plated with rhodium plating to evoke the silhouette of Mount Fuji.  Presented in an elegant limited edition gift box with a silky fabric lining and a bottle of black Namiki ink.  Also included is a Pilot con-70 converter and use and care leaflet.

The Namiki Yukari Maki-e Bumblebee fountain pen is limited to only 300 pieces worldwide, with only 3 available in the UK.
