The Lamy 2000 is a design classic - launched in 1966 and remaining in continuous production since. As a timeless classic it is still one of the most modern writing instruments today. All pens and pencils in this range feature the same combination of fibreglass polycarbonate and matt stainless steel and the unique spring-loaded clip - a first for Lamy when it was launched.
This classic fountain pen is available with a wide range of nib sizes. It is a piston-filler so uses bottled ink only (but has a large ink capacity) and a small ink window in the barrel keeps you informed of remaining "fuel". Note that Lamy 2000 fountain pen nibs used to run a little wider than other pens but following a change in specification in c.2009 this is no longer the case. Nibs are semi-hooded to prevent ink drying when left uncapped and are made from 14kt gold with platinum plating.
Note that we aim to keep all nib sizes in stock but there may be a delay of around 3 or 4 days if a nib size has to be ordered from Lamy.
All Lamy 2000 fountain pens undergo a full writing test and nib tune as well as a pre-delivery piston service.

Availability
If an item is in stock, the words "In stock" will be shown. If an item is out of stock, the approximate number of days before we get another delivery will be shown instead. You may still be able to order the item, but there will be a delay before we can dispatch your item(s). If the words "Please enquire" are shown, it's best to check with us first before ordering.
Nib choices for fountain pens
If we show the pen with the default nib selection shown in stock it means we have stock of that pen. If you select another nib size and the website doesn't say "in stock" we can usually supply that pen immediately as we keep extensive supplies of nibs from all our manufacturers.
Lamy 2000 EF
The writing desk offer a service level even big A can't match, always arrives next day in generous packaging. The pen, even after owning Pelikan's and Montblanc is my favourite writing experience. I have two, and despite what people say about them having a small sweet spot, both my F and this EF glide over the page, even with dryer inks. I estimate they hold the same ink as a large International cartridge, 1.4ml - who needs plastic cartridges to get through the day.
