More info

Genuine Lamy steel nibs that are direct replacements for the Lamy Safari, Lamy Vista, Lamy Studio, Lamy Accent, Lamy scala, Lamy cp1Lamy linea, Lamy ST, Lamy Joy, Lamy Al-Star, Lamy nexx, Lamy abc and other models that are fitted with a standard Lamy steel nib. They can also be used to replace the black version of the Lamy Z50 nib such as fitted to some Safari, Al-Star and Accent models, as well as the Lamy aion fountain pen. These stainless steel nibs will also fit all Lamy pens that come with gold nibs with the exception of the 2000 fountain pen.

For more information on nib sizes please refer to our FAQ page.

Note: Lamy nibs are factory tested so you will notice some evidence of ink even though all our nibs are brand new and never used.

Lamy nib replacement is quite straightforward if you follow this procedure:

  1. clean and dry the pen
  2. take a piece of Sellotape 50-60mm long and stick it across the nib, ie at right-angles to the axis of the pen, with the middle of the piece of tape on top of the nib. Make sure the tape only sticks to the nib, not any other part of the pen.
  3. hold the pen in your left hand with the nib horizontal and facing to the right and the tape hanging down either side.
  4. put your right index finger under the nib and grip the tape around that finger by using your thumb and middle finger.
  5. pull the tape away from the pen, applying gentle downwards pressure to ensure the tape stays stuck to the nib. The tape will grip the nib and slide it off the feed (black plastic part).
  6. slide the replacement nib on by hand, making sure it goes all the way to the end (it will be quite stiff but you shouldn't use any tool).

If you are left-handed, just replace "right" with "left" and vice-versa.

Note: on rare occasions the nib and feed will come out together. Don't worry of this happens, just continue to remove the nib before replacing the feed in the barrel of the pen. When replacing the feed, look inside the barrel and you will see a little channel formed by 2 ribs. The rib on the underside of the feed slides into this channel.

Image for illustrative purposes only. Each nib is marked with the point size (eg F for fine, M for medium etc).

Lamy discontinued the MK nib some time ago but the current M (medium) nib is made to the old MK specification. The "A" nib (beginner nib) is the grade supplied as standard on the abc child's fountain pen and is between fine and medium.

Availability

You may still be able to order the item, but there will be a delay before we can dispatch your item(s). If the words "Please enquire" are shown, it's best to check with us first before ordering.

Nib choices for fountain pens
If we show the pen with the default nib selection shown in stock it means we have stock of that pen. If you select another nib size and the website doesn't say "in stock" we can usually supply that pen immediately as we keep extensive supplies of nibs from all our manufacturers.
